Introduction

This is a space for investigating questions at the intersection of empiricism and spirituality

What is this website?

As science answers more and more questions about how the world works, it raises new questions about the basis of our spiritual and ethical beliefs. Does science make faith obsolete? Is free will an illusion? Where could–and should–technology take us? How do we obtain reliable knowledge? In what should we put our faith?

This website is a space for you and your community to explore these and other pressing questions. Each page features a video of one of the world’s leading thinkers on the interplay of science and faith, a transcript of the presentation, and suggested questions to think through and discuss. We encourage you to interact cordially with others in the comment section on each page. Small groups may be interested in downloading and printing the resources on each page, and in watching the videos together.

The videos on this website have been created from Veritas Forums around the world, as well as from interviews performed by Test of Faith. You can check out more of their resources on science and faith at their website: www.testoffaith.com/

Thank you for joining us in creating an open and friendly space for exploring some of life’s hardest questions. We’re thrilled you’re here! Pause over the images above to begin exploring!

“Science and faith aren’t enemies, aren’t strangers, but they must be friends, because the same God is active in both.” — Troy Van Voorhis, MIT Professor

Do the Laws of Nature Preclude the Possibility of Miracles?

Many argue that miracles are impossible because they violate the laws of nature, but John Lennox argues that God can cause events from outside the system.

Does Science Require Faith?

How does anyone go about conducting scientific research? Cullen Buie says it often starts with a hypothesis or an idea that is pursued on faith.

Can a Christian be a Scientist?

Professors estimate that roughly 50-60% of the prominent scientists honored in MIT’s architecture were Christians.

Can Science and Faith Go Together?

MIT Professor Troy Van Voorhis makes a case for why science and faith must go together for Christians: because the same God is active in both. TRENDING QUESTIONS
